Let's go to Saturn!

The Big Reveal on Saturn: Behind Hudson & Hanna Ep 022

Some comic strips build up to a punchline. Others build up to a moment of wonder.
In Ep 022 of Hudson & Hanna, we get both.

After a rough landing (and Hudson finally getting his legs back), Hanna tells him she wants to show him something cool. What Hudson sees is jaw‑dropping: a massive, glowing alien city on Saturn — bigger, brighter, and stranger than anything he could have imagined.

And then Hanna raises her arms like a rockstar MC and delivers the perfect line:

“Can… you… dig… it.”

Why it works

This moment works because it blends humor, awe, and pop culture nostalgia.

The big reveal shows readers (and Hudson) that there’s so much more to the universe than the little mysteries back home. And then there’s that quote — borrowed from the cult classic The Warriors — that breaks the tension and keeps it fun.

By mixing real wonder with a silly reference, the strip stays true to what Hudson & Hanna is all about: big ideas told with a wink.

Behind the scenes

Originally, this strip was just going to be Hudson gaping at Saturn’s rings.
But the idea of a hidden alien city felt bigger — it turns Saturn into more than scenery; it becomes part of the story.

The “Can you dig it” line came from late‑night sketching while rewatching old movies. It stuck because it’s playful, unexpected, and so perfectly Hanna.

Wrap‑up

Sometimes comics need a punchline. Sometimes they just need a character raising their arms and celebrating the weirdness of the universe.

Hudson’s still in shock. Hanna’s still having the time of her life. And that’s the magic of cartoon sci‑fi: every planet can hide a surprise — if you’re ready to dig it.
