Something's missing.

Cartoon Logic & Limbless Laughs: Behind Hudson & Hanna Ep 021

When you draw a daily comic strip, there are no real rules — and that’s the fun of it.

In Ep 021 of Hudson & Hanna, our heroes teleport to Saturn. Hudson, as usual, gets the short end of the cosmic stick: during teleportation, his atoms don’t quite land where they’re supposed to — and he shows up without legs.

In real life? Terrifying.
In cartoon logic? Comedy gold.

Why it works

Cartoon worlds bend reality. They let us explore worst‑case scenarios (like losing your legs in space) but keep it funny with a throwaway line like Hanna’s:

“Your legs will find you. now come on - walk it off.”

It’s absurd, it’s darkly funny, and it reminds us that in comics, the punchline always comes first.

Behind the scenes

This joke started as a doodle about teleportation glitches. At first, Hudson might have come out upside‑down or missing an eyebrow — but missing legs felt perfectly ridiculous.
And Hanna’s calm reaction makes it even funnier: it’s normal for them.

That contrast — something extreme, paired with a deadpan response — is classic cartoon humor.

Wrap‑up

That’s what makes cartoon logic magical: you can break every rule of physics (and anatomy!) if the gag works.
And yes, by the next panel, Hudson’s legs grow back just fine. After all, in comics, nothing bad lasts forever — except maybe a bruised ego.
